Our 2013 novelty dedicated to Juliet and Opera, the two excellences of Verona
OPERA IN LOVE – Romeo&Juliet is our new Show dedicated to the two excellencies of Verona: the Drama of Juliet and Melodrama. A tribute to Shakespeare and Great Opera Composers to mark the 100th Anniversary of the first AIDA at the Arena and the 200th Anniversary of the birth of Giuseppe Verdi, its author.
OPERA IN LOVE - Romeo & Juliet offers two types of proposal:
1. 12 Open Events in the days of Monday from 17:06 to 2:09 at the church of S. Mary Chiavica, in Verona city center.
2. Reserved Events on demand: any day on request
INTRODUCTION
Verona is the Italian city known all around the world for the story of the "star cross’d lovers: ROMEO AND JULIET", wrote by W. Shakespeare.
In Verona again, almost 100 years ago, the tenor Giovanni Zenatello chose the opera AIDA to achieve his dream: to represent an Opera into the roman arena of his city. And since then, the historic amphitheater hosts an Opera Season of extraordinary importance, symbol of Italian and Verona culture.
In Busseto, near Parma, nearly 200 years ago Giuseppe Verdi was born, author of that Aida so important to Verona, where the love of the Ethiopian female figure stands on everything and everyone ... so as the love of Juliet, the famous female figure of Verona.
Two women who meet in Verona, universal symbols of love and, now, of inclusion and integration between north and south.
On 2013, the City the Institutions and the People of Verona will remember Zenatello and his dream, along with the Bicentennial of the birth of Verdi.
OPERA IN LOVE: THE EVENT
Now, the two Verona excellences OPERA & JULIET share their emotional strength in a new performance: “OPERA IN LOVE”. Romeo and Juliet will come alive through Shakespeare’s words combined with famous operatic words and arias for the emotional climaxes. A dancer representing the soul provides a bridge between the story and the audience.
The audience will enjoy this journey of love in the Romanesque church of St. Maria in Chiavica (XII-XVII), accompained by professional Artists and an accomplished pianist.
